The short version: SerpView processes everything locally in your browser. The meta tags, titles, descriptions, and URLs you type into our tool are never sent to our servers. We don't sell your data, don't build profiles on you, and don't require any account. This policy explains the very limited data we do handle and why.
1 Who We Are
SerpView ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at https://serpview.cc — a free, browser-based Google SERP preview tool that helps SEO professionals, content marketers, and web developers preview how their meta tags appear in Google search results.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect (if any), how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights in relation to it. If you have any questions, please contact us.
2 What We Do NOT Collect
✅ The tool itself collects zero data. All SERP preview processing runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Nothing you type is ever sent to us.
The following data is never collected, stored, or transmitted to our servers:
- Your meta titles or descriptions entered into the preview tool
- Your URLs or domain names entered into the tool
- Browser localStorage or sessionStorage (we don't use either)
- Keystroke data, typing patterns, or behavioural analytics
- Financial information of any kind
- Government-issued identification numbers
- Sensitive personal data (health, race, religion, political opinions)
- Device fingerprints or unique device identifiers beyond standard analytics
3 What We May Collect
We collect minimal, anonymised data to keep the service running and improve it over time:
| Data Type | What It Is | Why We Collect It | Shared With |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anonymised analytics | Page views, session duration, browser type, country (no IP stored) | Understand how the tool is used and improve it | Google Analytics (anonymised) |
| Contact form data | Name, email address, message content | Respond to your enquiry or support request | Not shared |
| SEO audit requests | Website URL, email address | To deliver the requested free SEO audit | Not shared |
| Server logs | IP address, page requested, timestamp | Security monitoring and abuse prevention only | Hosting provider only |
ℹ️ Server log data (including IP addresses) is automatically purged after 30 days and is used solely for security purposes — never for tracking or profiling.
4 Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use a minimal number of cookies. Here's exactly what is set and why:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Anonymised usage analytics | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users for analytics | 24 hours |
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or tracking that follows you across other websites.
How to opt out: Disable cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The tool will continue to work fully without cookies.
5 Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the site:
- Google Analytics — Anonymised traffic analysis with IP anonymisation enabled. View Google's Privacy Policy →
- Google Fonts — Typography loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the requesting IP address. View Google Fonts Privacy Info →
- Web Hosting Provider — Our hosting provider processes standard server log data as part of infrastructure management. Logs are retained for no longer than 30 days.
⚠️ We do not use Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any other social media tracking pixels on this site.
6 Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal basis for the limited data we process is:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — Anonymised analytics to understand and improve the tool. Our legitimate interest does not override your fundamental rights.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) — For non-essential cookies such as Google Analytics. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — When you submit a contact form or SEO audit request, we process your details to respond.
7 Data Retention
| Data Type | Retention Period | Deletion Method |
|---|---|---|
| Contact form submissions | 12 months | Securely deleted from email/storage |
| SEO audit requests | 12 months | Securely deleted after audit delivered |
| Anonymised analytics data | 26 months | Auto-deleted per Google Analytics settings |
| Server logs (IP, requests) | 30 days | Automatic server log rotation |

10 Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any data we hold, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers
- Access controls limiting who can view any contact form submissions
- Regular security reviews of our hosting infrastructure
- No storage of payment information (the tool is completely free)
ℹ️ Since all SERP preview processing happens in your browser, your meta tags never leave your device — making the most privacy-sensitive part of the tool completely secure by design.
